These are official admission amounts checked for this update, not tour prices. Do not assume they include parking, a guide or transport.

Why do other websites show different prices?

At the time of checking, the INAH Tulum page still listed amounts that differed from the July decree. Adding together figures from several pages could therefore mix old and new charging systems. Ask for the complete price and the entrances it covers, then check any optional services separately.

Exemptions depend on eligibility and supporting documents. The decree also has a specific provision for people who can prove residence in the municipality of Tulum. Living elsewhere in Mexico does not establish eligibility for that local provision. If you expect a concession, confirm the requirements before budgeting around it; Sunday admission is not free for every visitor.

How beach access differs from ruins admission

The Tourism Secretariat confirms free access to Tulum’s beaches through public access routes for Mexican and international visitors. This does not include entry to the archaeological site. If your plan is a beach day, ask for the appropriate public route; if you want to see the ruins, specify the zona arqueológica de Tulum.

Coastal scenery in Quintana Roo, photographed in 2023. Look for a clear list of inclusions and keep your tickets or booking confirmation available for checks.

Planning your arrival and onward route

A map pin labeled “Tulum” or “Parque del Jaguar” is not enough to settle your drop-off and onward walk. Before traveling, confirm the arrival point and ask how to reach the archaeological entrance from there.

A practical arrival checklist

Tell your driver which place you want to visit. Distinguish the ruins from a beach or another park facility.

Find the official ticket information and signs on arrival. Check which admission documents you need and where the route to the ruins begins.

Ask about the remaining walk. If an internal transport service is offered, confirm where it goes, any extra charge and its conditions before paying.

Arrange the return pickup. Choose a recognizable meeting point and allow time to get there after leaving the archaeological site.

The official sources checked for this guide do not establish one current walking route, distance or shuttle frequency that applies to every visitor. Follow the route authorized on the day. If someone in your party needs step-free access or assistance, get specific confirmation about the route and available support before traveling.

Opening hours and walking time

The official INAH Tulum listing, checked on October 14, 2026, gives opening hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with last admission at 3:30 p.m. Recheck before your visit. Closing time is not the latest time to arrive at the wider park and begin looking for the archaeological entrance.

Leave room in your schedule for the approach, admission checks and time inside the ruins. Comfortable walking shoes, a hat and a reusable water bottle help with an outdoor visit; check the current rules for permitted items and drinking water before leaving.

With children, agree on a manageable pace rather than fitting too many stops into the same afternoon. If you are combining the ruins with another activity, confirm that the day allows time for both. Avoid building the whole itinerary around an unverified shuttle timetable or a walking-time estimate from an older review.

Visiting independently or with an English-speaking guide

An independent visit lets you set your own stops, with transport, admission and the return journey arranged separately. On an organized outing, check what is already included before buying additional entrance tickets.

VivaOhlala’s private Tulum, cenote and Akumal tour includes an English-speaking guide and admission to Tulum. The tour page explains the program and inclusions; pickup arrangements and availability must be confirmed for your hotel and date.

The combined day also includes water activities, so tell us the children’s ages and everyone’s swimming confidence before booking. Babies do not take part in snorkeling in Akumal. One adult in your party must stay with the baby on the beach while the rest of the group snorkels. Wildlife sightings depend on natural conditions.

Prefer a private day with an English-speaking guide? Contact VivaOhlala with your date, hotel, party size and children’s ages. Ask us to confirm pickup, included admissions and the complete tour price before you reserve.

Sources and last check

Checked October 14, 2026: federal admission decree; October 10 Tourism Secretariat announcement; INAH Tulum visitor listing; VivaOhlala private Tulum tour.
